With seamless logistics, private transfers, and expert local guides throughout, the journey moves through masterpieces from the Mughal and Rajput eras to the Taj Mahal at sunrise, across vibrant historic cities, and open-air safaris in one of India’s most storied tiger reserves. Thoughtfully balanced between cultural immersion, comfort, and contrast, this itinerary offers a layered introduction to North India, both stimulating and provoking.

Itinerary

On arrival in Delhi, you are met and smoothly transferred to your hotel, with time to refresh and settle in before the journey begins.
In the early evening, step into Old Delhi (Shahjahanabad), one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities. At around 5 pm, your expert local guide leads you on foot and by cycle rickshaw through its labyrinthine lanes, first laid out in the 17th century by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan.
Walk across the vast courtyard of Jama Masjid, breathe in incense at a revered Sikh gurudwara, and weave through the vibrant streets of Chandni Chowk, before reaching the spice-scented lanes of Khari Baoli, Asia’s largest wholesale spice market. As evening settles, return to your hotel having experienced Delhi at its most atmospheric.
What to expect: A gentle, immersive introduction focused on sensory experience.
Pace & comfort: Short walks and rickshaw rides, unhurried and fully guided.
Overnight: Comfortable city hotel in Delhi.

Today unfolds across New Delhi, where ancient dynasties and modern power intersect.
With your guide, explore the serene symmetry of Humayun’s Tomb, a UNESCO masterpiece that later inspired the Taj Mahal. Continue to the soaring Qutub Minar, the tallest brick minaret in the world and a landmark of early Indo-Islamic architecture.
After a refined traditional lunch, visit the luminous Akshardham complex, a contemporary spiritual landmark carved entirely by hand, showcasing living craft traditions. The afternoon continues along the ceremonial axis of India Gate, Parliament House, and Rashtrapati Bhavan, revealing Delhi’s role as the political heart of the world’s largest democracy.
What to expect: A well-structured day combining history, architecture, and modern India
Pace & comfort: Sightseeing supported by private air-conditioned vehicle throughout
Overnight: Comfortable city hotel in Delhi

Depart Delhi by private vehicle, travelling southeast across the fertile plains of northern India toward Agra, once the jewel of the Mughal Empire.
On arrival, your expert guide leads you through the imposing red sandstone walls of Agra Fort, a UNESCO-listed citadel that served as palace, fortress, and seat of imperial power. Continue to the elegant Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, celebrated for its exquisite marble inlay work, known as pietra dura.
As evening falls, stroll through Mehtab Bagh, where your first views of the Taj Mahal appear across the Yamuna River, softly glowing in the setting sun.
What to expect: A scenic travel day paired with two significant Mughal monuments
Pace & comfort: Comfortable drive with breaks; walking at sites is guided and unhurried
Overnight: Comfortable hotel in Agra

At sunrise, experience the Taj Mahal at its most ethereal, as changing light reveals the subtle beauty of the world’s most celebrated monument to love. This early visit allows for a quieter, more reflective experience.
After breakfast, travel to the UNESCO-listed site of Fatehpur Sikri, a remarkably preserved Mughal capital abandoned almost as quickly as it was built. With your guide, explore the monumental Buland Darwaza, the reflective Anup Talao, and the airy Panch Mahal, gaining insight into Mughal ideals of power, faith, and urban planning.
By afternoon, continue south into rural Rajasthan, arriving in the forested landscape of Ranthambore for an overnight stay near one of India’s most storied tiger reserves.
What to expect: An early start balanced by a gradual transition from monuments to countryside
Pace & comfort: Morning sightseeing followed by a relaxed afternoon drive
Overnight: Nature lodge near Ranthambore National Park

At dawn, venture into Ranthambore National Park aboard a shared open-air jeep, guided by an experienced naturalist. Set within the rugged Aravalli and Vindhya hills, the park is one of India’s most celebrated sanctuaries for Bengal tigers, alongside leopards, sloth bears, and abundant birdlife.
After a restorative break at your lodge, return to the forest in the afternoon, when the light softens and wildlife becomes active once more. The day ends immersed in the raw, elemental rhythms of India’s wilderness.
What to expect: Two contrasting safaris offering a deeper understanding of the ecosystem
Pace & comfort: Early morning and afternoon outings with rest time in between
Overnight: Nature lodge near Ranthambore National Park

Travel west by private vehicle into Rajasthan, arriving in Jaipur, the Pink City, founded in 1727 and renowned for its harmonious planning and rose-coloured façades.
With your expert guide, explore the City Palace, still home to Jaipur’s royal family, before pausing at the sculpted façade of Hawa Mahal, designed to allow palace women to observe the city unseen. In the late afternoon, walk through the historic Pink City, where craftsmen, temples, and bazaars reveal Jaipur as a living, breathing centre of Rajasthani culture.
What to expect: A cultural city day blending royal heritage with everyday life
Pace & comfort: City exploration supported by vehicle; walking kept manageable
Overnight: Comfortable heritage-style hotel in Jaipur

Your final day begins at the hilltop stronghold of Amer Fort, where Rajput ambition and artistry still command the landscape. Descend into the quiet geometry of Panna Meena ka Kund, pause by the mirrored calm of Jal Mahal, and explore Jantar Mantar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where monumental stone instruments continue to measure the heavens with astonishing precision.
At the sacred springs of Galtaji, reflection gives way to stillness before the drive back to Delhi. As the journey concludes, Mughal splendour, living cities, wilderness encounters, and moments of wonder settle into memory, leaving you with depth of experience and real understanding of Indian culture.
What to expect: A reflective final day bringing together architecture, astronomy, and spirituality.
Pace & comfort: Moderate sightseeing followed by a comfortable return drive.
Overnight: Journey concludes in Delhi or with onward departure.

Frequently asked questions

Absolutely — and it's designed with you in mind. The Golden Triangle is India's most iconic introduction for a reason. Delhi's living history, the Taj Mahal at sunrise, the wilderness of Ranthambore, and the rose-hued grandeur of Jaipur together offer the most complete and compelling first chapter imaginable. Your expert guides provide all the context you need, so nothing feels overwhelming and nothing gets missed.
Almost certainly. Most travellers who've done the Golden Triangle independently, or on a large group tour, tell us they feel they barely scratched the surface. Our guides go well beyond the monuments — into the stories, the social history, the hidden corners, and the living culture that most tours simply don't have time for. Previous visitors regularly tell us it feels like seeing India for the first time.
Two things, above all. First, the group size — never more than 8 guests, which means the pace is yours, the guide's attention is yours, and the experience never feels rushed or impersonal. Second, the guides themselves — expert locals who bring genuine passion, deep knowledge, and the kind of storytelling that turns monuments into memories. We also extend the classic route to include Ranthambore, adding a wildlife dimension that most Golden Triangle tours miss entirely.
A reasonable level of mobility is helpful — there is walking at most sites, and Ranthambore involves early morning jeep safaris on uneven terrain. That said, the pace is unhurried and entirely manageable for most travellers. The tour is not recommended for those with serious back problems or heart conditions. If you have specific concerns, please reach out before booking and we'll advise honestly.
We visit at sunrise — deliberately. The early light transforms the monument in a way that photographs can't fully capture, and the crowds haven't yet arrived. Your guide will position you perfectly, share the extraordinary story behind its construction, and give you the space to take it in without being hurried. Guests consistently describe it as one of the most moving experiences of their lives. We want yours to be too.
Wildlife cannot be guaranteed — these are wild animals in their natural habitat, and that's precisely what makes it extraordinary. Two safaris are included (morning and afternoon) to maximise your chances. Ranthambore is one of India's best parks for tiger sightings, and your experienced naturalist guide will ensure you get the most from every moment in the forest — tigers or not.
Six nights in carefully selected 4- and 5-star or boutique properties are included. In Delhi, Agra, and Jaipur, we choose hotels that are well-located, well-appointed, and add to rather than detract from the experience. At Ranthambore, you'll stay at a nature lodge that immerses you in the landscape between safaris. All hotel selections are made with comfort, character, and location in mind.
The 7-day itinerary has been carefully balanced for pace, variety, and depth — but we're known for making tours personal. If you'd like to add extra days, include Varanasi, extend your time at a particular destination, or adjust anything to suit your interests, reach out directly. Praveen and the team are always happy to discuss options and build something that's exactly right for you.
You can book directly on the website or contact us via Phone/WhatsApp on +44 7892 832398 or +91 99005 55558. We respond to text messages within 24 hours — usually much sooner. Full cancellation terms are provided at the time of booking. If you have any questions before committing, please just ask — we'd rather you book with complete confidence than have any uncertainty.
It isn't included, but it is strongly recommended — and we'd be doing you a disservice not to say so clearly. Good travel insurance should cover medical expenses, trip cancellation, and any unexpected disruption. India rewards the well-prepared traveller.
